ABOUT US

Sam Mak & Associates Surveyors is a land consultancy firm and was founded in 1979 with more than 43 years’ collective experience of dealing with development land in Hong Kong.

It now ranks one of the largest land surveying firm residents in Hong Kong. It has employed more than 30 qualified staff of surveyors and draughts persons. The firm maintains leadership in the Hong Kong land survey industry using advanced survey technology to provide efficient and accurate services to its client.

The firm was founded upon the concepts of providing clients with as broad a scope of services in surveying as possible. It brings together land professionals in the field of acquisition, interpretation, analysis and presentation of survey data in order to provide effective planning tools for its client.

Pilot study for developing land information system for developers

EXPERT WITNESS SERVICE

Our expert witness service is handled directly by Authorized Land Surveyors (ALS). We will provide expert reports and/or attended trail to give oral evidences for boundary disputes and adverse possession cases.

Identifies, introduces, and authenticates documents and other information relevant to the disputed boundary.

Explains the relevancy of certain information and how the information is used to fix the position of the boundary.

Gives a conclusion: an ultimate opinion on the location of boundaries and other related matters.

Authorized Land Surveyors

Authorized Land Surveyors (ALS) are private land surveyors registered under the Land Survey Ordinance (Cap 473). The duties of Authorized Land Surveyors include the approval of Land Boundary Plans for subdivision purpose and other surveying works. He or She will be personally liable for the accuracy and completeness of the land boundary plans certified by him or her and be responsible for damages suffered by any person as a result of any inaccuracy and incompleteness of any land boundary plans. In Cap 473 Sec 2, "Authorized Land Surveyor" means a person whose name is currently entered in the register and whose registration is in force.

Total 27 ALSs Authorized Land Surveyors operating under the Land Survey Ordinance, Cap 473 in Hong Kong right now. We have 3 ALSs Authorized Land Surveyors practicing in our firm. The Ordinance to provide for the registration and discipline of land surveyors engaged in Land Boundary Surveys, for the control of the standards of Land Boundary Surveys, for the establishment of Land Boundary Records and for related matters. They are also a member of Hong Kong Institution of Surveyors entitled Registered Professional Surveyor (Land Survey Division).

Cadastral survey is a major realm for the land surveying professionals in Hong Kong. A message from Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) stated that "It is always advisable for landowners and developers to ascertain the boundaries and area entitlements of their properties by land boundary surveys prior to any land development."
